Two Desperados

Jesus walks the streets at night slipping through the shadows
Mindful of the policemen's eyes following where he goes
Just another alien... livin' 'cross the line
Condemned to life upon the streets, keeping to his own kind

To them he was a hero, a young man in his prime
Forced by circumstances to leave his world behind
One night in desperation he stepped outside the law
Society demanded the life of this outlaw

Jesse was a poor boy who fell in with bad companions
It broke his mama's heart to know he made his living
As a ruthless desperado... striking from the shadows
They captured him and sentenced him to death upon the gallows

To some he was a hero... a victim of hard times
Forced by circumstances into a life of crime
Stealin' led to killin'... it was his fatal flaw
Society demanded the life of this outlaw

Chorus:
They hung him up between two desperados
One cried out in anger, one in shame
He cried for forgiveness, his mother cried in sorrow
Who will judge?... who's to bless or blame?... Two desperados

Once upon a time in a country far from here
Another young man's actions caused some folks to fear
Some said it was blasphemy... they said he was lost
They captured him and sentenced him to death upon the cross

To some he was a hero... a victim of the times
Forced by circumstances to boldly speak his mind
Betrayed, denied, forsaken... just as he foresaw
Society demanded the life of this outlaw
